Marcelo J. Barrionuevo, M.D.
Board Certified, Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility
Born and educated in Argentina, Dr. Barrionuevo is a graduate of the University of Buenos Aires School of Medicine. Dr. Barrionuevo trained first in internal medicine, and then completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology at Siani Hospital, in Detroit, where he received the Joseph H. Wahlers Award for demonstrating “kindness, empathy and emotional support of patients.” He also completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of South Florida College of Medicine in Tampa. Following training, Dr. Barrionuevo joined the faculty at the University of South Florida in the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, where he served as the director of pediatric and adolescent gynecology. In addition, he developed and directed the International Exchange Program.
Dr. Barrionuevo has participated in many research projects and his publications include abstracts, papers, and text book chapters. Dr. Barrionuevo is fluent in both English and Spanish and joined IVF Florida in 1998.
Dr. Barrionuevo has served as the president of the Fort Lauderdale OB/Gyn Society from 2004 to 2006 and currently serves as voluntary assistant professor at the University of Miami School of Medicine.
