Using donor eggs can often help couples struggling with infertility realize their dream of having a baby. By using an egg donor, women who have poor egg quality or a low ovarian reserve may find greater success in IVF treatments. The fertility specialists at IVF Florida have seen an increase in the use of donor eggs in recent years which has helped many couples start a family of their own.

In the video blog Drs. David Hoffman and Marcello Barrionuevo, physician partners at IVF Florida, explain the benefits of using an egg donor.  Dr. David Hoffman's video transcript portion is provided below.

"IVF Florida works with Donor Egg Bank USA to recruit volunteers, stimulate them, retrieve their eggs and freeze these eggs in batches so that they can be used for other couples who need eggs from a donor. All third party reproduction in the United States is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. They are screened and tested for infectious diseases according to FDA guidelines. They are screened psychologically, for medical history, family history, genetics, and drugs according to the guidelines established by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine.

It's going to make it a lot easier for couples because they don't have to wait for somebody to go through their cycle to be synchronized with them so that they can get the embryos back. In this case we just fertilize the eggs that are thawed and replace them in the recipient in an artificial cycle."
